Hello everyone. A few weeks ago I told y'all about this respiratory funk that I have been in. While I am finally feeling better, I still can't seem to shake this darn cough! It has been a full 6 weeks now, & I am just about at my wits end! My voice is so hoarse from it that I am beginning to wonder if I am ever going to sound like myself again. Something has got to give!
Over the counter and even prescription medicines just don't seem to touch it. After talking with a few relatives, I was reminded of a home remedy that Nana used to swear by. It is very simple to make, and only has 3 ingredients. ~ I have to tell you, I'm kinda feeling like an idiot right about now. Our family has used this mixture for years to combat everyday coughs, colds, seasonal allergies, and sore throat (most often around springtime), and it really helps. I can't believe I hadn't thought about trying it for this cough before now! All I can say is, I guess you're brain just doesn't work all that well when your feeling bad.
As it turns out, a lot of people are fighting the crud right now. In part, I'm sure, to this wonky weather that we have been having this winter. So, I thought I would share the recipe, and hopefully help a few of y'all out.
The 3 all natural ingredients are Apple Cider Vinegar, Local Honey, and Cinnamon.
- Apple Cider Vinegar has an acidity that prevents bacteria growth, and can stop viruses from taking hold. It also contains potassium which helps to thin mucus.
- Local Honey was made using the pollen from your area. Using local honey will help you to build up a tolerance and keep your allergies at bay. If you can not find local honey, any pure honey will help. Honey has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and is a natural cough suppressant.
- Cinnamon is Antibacterial, antimicrobial, and is a top antioxidant. The Chinese have long used it to combat cough, cold, and sore throat.
Putting these three powerhouse ingredients together makes an amber colored elixir that not only provides relief, but actually tastes pretty good too. *While I've listed the health benefits as they relate to cough, cold, allergy, and sore throat; these ingredients have many, many other health benefits as well. You may consider adding it to your daily regimen, just as an all around health booster.
***UPDATE***
Simply mix equal parts (about 1/2 cup each) of the ACV and Honey in a sealable jar or bottle. Mix until the honey breaks down and incorporates with the vinegar. Then add a pinch of Cinnamon, and give it a swirl.
Drink about 1 Tablespoon of this mixture every few hours as needed. Just remember to shake it first. (*If you are using it as a health booster, once per day is sufficient.) Store the mixture in a cool dry place. Refrigeration is not required.

Hope you feel better soon!
***UPDATE***
I am happy to report that after using this syrup for just 2 or 3 days, the results are astounding! While I can't say that I am 100%, the difference is remarkable. I am feeling (and sounding) so much better! This mixture was able to do in just a few days, what countless other medications (prescription and not) weren't able to do in 6 weeks! I am over the moon about the results, and I just had to tell y'all. :o)
