Choco-Stix

These sweet little sticks are easy to put together, and are so small and dainty - but don't let their size fool you! They are quite rich, and you only need to eat a few to satisfy your sweet tooth. Their small size makes them perfect for little fingers, or for that next party platter. Hey, with Nutella as one of the main ingredients... How can you go wrong?!

Ingredients
  • 2 cans Refrigerated Crescent Rolls
  • 3/4 cup Chocolate Hazelnut Spread (like Nutella)
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • Dash Nutmeg
For the Icing
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Tbs Milk

Method:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly coat a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with cooking spray. Lay one can of the crescent rolls, as a full sheet, in the bottom of the dish. Press all seams together as needed.

In a small microwaveable dish, nuke the Nutella® for about 30 seconds and stir, to loosen it up a bit. Spread it over the entire sheet of dough.

In another small bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until combined thoroughly. Sprinkle half of the mixture over the Nutella layer.

Lay the second can of crescent rolls on top, again as one sheet, and make sure the seams are pressed together. Sprinkle the rest of the sugar mixture over the top.

Bake in the preheated 375 degree oven for 12-15 minutes, until the top is golden brown. While they are baking, mix up the icing. To do this, add the powdered sugar to a small bowl and press out any obvious lumps. Next, stir in the milk, and again, press out any lumps that you see. Keep stirring until it is all incorporated. Cover the bowl, and set it to the side.

When the top of the pastry is brown enough, remove it from the oven and let it cool before cutting into 1-1/2 x 4 inch sticks (give or take). Drizzle the sticks with the icing before removing them from the dish. Let them sit for a bit, to allow the icing to set before serving.

Enjoy!
