Guacamole

Guacamole is probably one of my all time favorite Mexican style condiments! It pairs up well with so many dishes - or you can enjoy it straight up, by itself with a few tortilla chips. I've tried buying the ready made stuff at the store, but it just doesn't compare (in my opinion) to the freshness and taste of homemade guacamole.

This recipe is very easy to throw together. In no time at all, you can have a wonderful homemade guacamole that is simply delicious!

 Printable Recipe
Ingredients:
  • 3 ripe Avocados
  • Juice from 1/2 Lime
  • 1/4 cup diced Red Onion
  • 1 medium Tomato, diced (Roma works great)
  • 1 Jalapeno, diced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Cumin
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Method:

It is very important that you use ripe avocados for this. If you are unsure of how to choose a ripe avocado, click HERE

Slice the avocados in half & remove the pits. Cut a grid pattern through the flesh. (This is the easiest way that I have found to 'dice' an avocado.) Now, simply scoop the avocado pieces out of the skin with a spoon. Place them in a medium bowl.

Sprinkle the Avocado with the juice of half a lime, and stir to coat. (This will keep the avocado nice and green.)

Add the diced red onion, tomato, cilantro, and jalapeno (if using). Now add in the seasonings & stir to combine.

Here's where you need to make a decision... If you like your guacamole a little chunky (like we do), use a potato masher until you reach your desired consistency. If you prefer something a bit more smooth, you may want to use a stick blender or food processor.

Let your guacamole rest for at least an hour before serving, for optimal flavor.

Enjoy!

  1. It's impossible for me to let it rest before eating! I love it so much that I've been known to eat it without chips. Just right out of the bowl!!
